WASHINGTON — Daniel McMullen, FBI special agent in charge of criminal matters in Los Angeles, has been named the top agent for the Jackson, Miss., division. He replaces Frederick T. Brink, who retired.

McMullen began his career in 1991 and was first assigned to the Shreveport, La. office. In 1995, he went to the L.A. office where he investigated violent crime, organized crime, and drug matters.

In March 1998, he became a supervisory special agent in the Information Resources Division at FBI Headquarters. In December 2000, he returned to the Los Angeles Division.

A few years later, he was made an assistant special agent in charge of the New York office’s Violent Crimes Branch.

McMullen returned to FBI Headquarters in October 2004 and in May 2007 was named acting section chief for the Law Enforcement Programs Section of the Training Division, a post that became permanent later that year, the FBI said.

In March 2008, he was made an SAC in Los Angeles.
