So what would ex-President Bill Clinton say if he heard that Kenneth Starr had just been busted for fraud by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in N.Y.?

Well, probably not much considering the Kenneth Starr  arrested Thursday morning is an investment counselor to the stars who is accused of swindling clients out of about $30 million — not the same Kenneth Starr, the special prosecutor who investigated Bill Clinton and authored the famous “Starr Report” on the Monica Lewinksy caper.  The two Starrs are not aligned  — or related —  authorities said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan said Thursday that suspected swindler Starr duped clients including an actress and a well-known philanthropist.  Names of the victims were not released. But the website Daily Beast is reporting that the actress was Uma Thurman.

Authorities said actress became concerned when she learned from the bank that Starr had transferred $1 million of her money as part of a Ponzi scheme he was allegedly running. When the bank notified her of the transfer out of her account, she and her lawyers demanded to know why, federal authorities said.

So Starr transferred $1 million back into the account, but not the original money, but rather $1 million from another client, a former executive at a talent agency and the executive’s wife, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Authorities also charged Andrew Stein, the former president of the New York City Council, who is alleged to have made false statement in an IRS filing and false statement to  federal officers about a shell company of his that was set up by Starr.

By the way, the other Kenneth Starr — the one Bill Clinton knows all too well — has been named president of Baylor University in Waco, Tex.,  and will be inaugurated Sept. 17
