FBI Special Agent David Schrom, who wanted to work with the bureau since he was a kid, died after a battle with brain cancer last month, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Schrom was 41.

The Army veteran launched his FBI career in 2002 at the Las Vegas office, where he fought public corruption and cyber-crimes. He also served on the SWAT team and was the media representative in Las Vegas.

“He was very well liked,” said Joseph Dickey, supervisory special agent for the FBI.

Schrom is a West Virginia native who graduated from journalism school in Ohio University. He also served in Bosnia.
