In the cannibalism trial of New York Police Officer Gilberto Valle, the big question is: Was the 28-year-old Queens resident serious about chopping up women and eating them?

“I’m dying to taste some girl meat,” Valley told an online friend, according to an FBI agent during the second day of testimony Tuesday, the Associated Press wrote.

In addition to a charge of conspiring to kidnap a woman, Valle also faces jail time for allegedly illegally accessing a government database for potential victims.

To prove their case that Valle was serious about his plan to kidnap a woman and eat her flesh, prosecutors summoned several potential targets to testify.

A New Jersey auto mechanic was not being serious when he allegedly conspired with a New York City police officer to rape and murder a woman in a cannibalism case, his attorney said in hopes of getting his client’s bail reduced, the Associated Press reports.

In fact, attorney Alice Fontier said her client, 22-year-old Michael Vanhise, wanted the FBI involved in the bizarre case.

“He was happy,” attorney Alice Fontier said of her 22-year-old client, Michael Vanhise. “He was ready and willing to cooperate and help the FBI.”

The attorney said Vanhise went to police on at least four occasions about the NYC cop but was told to go away, the AP wrote.

The officer, Gilberto Valle, is accused in a scheme to kidnap, kill and eat women.

NYC Cop Accused of Plotting to Murder and Eat Women Tests Line Between Fantasy and Intention

Was it playful fantasy or a gruesome plot?

That’s the question surrounding the case of a New York City police officer accused of plotting to kill and eat as many as 100 women, the Associated Press reports.

An attorney for the officer, Gilberto Valle, says the Internet chatter, meticulous notes and banter were nothing more than harmless fantasy.

“There is a big difference between discussing, and even fantasizing about this type of activity and actually carrying it out,” said Jeffrey Parsons, a psychologist at Hunter College. “Not all the people who fantasize about it will go on to carry it out.”

Some of the flesh-eating sites where Valle, a 6-year NYPD veteran and a father of an infant child, posted about eating women ran with disclaimers that the banter is only for fun, the AP reported.

The government, however, points out that Valle was keeping information on real women.

“This is somebody using a database to target potential victims,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Hadassa Waxman said. “That means it’s more serious.”

Waxman said Valle was on the verge of kidnapping, killing and eating a woman.
