Orlando’s top prosecutor pledged to review the fatal shooing of a Chechen immigrant in his condo during an FBI interrogation, The Associated Press reports.

The news comes the same week Ibragim Todashev’s father arrived in Florida with the intention of suing the bureau for his son’s death.

State Attorney Jeff Ashton said he’s received a preliminary report of the shooting from the Justice Department, which investigated the death in May.

Todashev was killed while being questioned about his ties to one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

The father of the Chechen man who was fatally shot during an FBI interview in Orlando plans to speak out  Tuesday at a press conference, The Orland Sentinel reports

Abdulbaki Todashev recently traveled from Russia to the U.S. in search of answers about his son, Ibragim Todashev, a friend of one of the Boston Marathon bombers.

The FBI has refused to release any details about the fatal shooting during an interrogation at Todashev’s home in May.

During the press conference, Todashev plans to update the public on what he has learned and the status of a separate investigation by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Sentinel reported.

The father of the Chechen man killed during an FBI interview at his home in Florida is suing the bureau for the wrongful death of his 27-year-old son, Time reports.

Abdulbaki Todashev, who lives in Chechnya, arrived in Tampa Monday to begin filing the suit with the help of the ACLU.

Todashev’s son, Ibragim, was killed while being interrogated by the FBI on May 22.

The son was being interrogated about his ties to one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect when he was killed.

The FBI has refused to say what happened.

“He was shot seven times,” his father told Time. “In the heart and in the head. What is that if not murder?”

The FBI has blocked the release of the autopsy report of the Chechen man killed by an FBI agent during an investigation in May, the Boston Globe reports.

Ibragim Todashev, a friend of one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, was in his Orlando apartment when the agent shot and killed him.

The medical examiner said the autopsy is complete and “ready for release,” but the FBI does not want the public seeing it because the case is still under investigation, according to the Globe.

“The FBI has informed this office that the case is still under active investigation and thus not to release the document,” Tony Miranda, forensic records coordinator for Orange and Osceola counties in Orlando, said in a media statement Tuesday.

A 19-year-old roommate of the Chechen man killed by an FBI agent in Florida last month was ordered by an immigration judge to leave the country by July 1, raising fears that she is being swept out of the country before she can provide details to law enforcement, the Boston Globe reports.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations in Florida wants to talk with Tatiana Igorevna Gruzdeva, an aspiring foreign language teacher, about what she learned about the death of Ibragim Todashev, who was investigated for his knowledge of one of the Boston bombing suspects.

“We’re extremely interested in speaking to her and seeing what she has to say,” said Hassan Shibly, executive director of the council in Florida. “We’re very curious as to why the government’s put so many impediments, in trying to get her out of the country as soon as possible. There’s a very good likelihood that she has important information.”

The FBI has declined to discuss the death of Todashev.

As FBI Investigates Shooting Death of Chechen Man in Florida, Bureau Rarely Finds Agents at Fault

The FBI said it’s vigorously investigating whether an agent was justified in shooting to death a Chechen man in Orlando, Fla., over his ties with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

The New York Times reports that the FBI investigated 150 shootings by agents between 1993 and 2011 and each time the agent was deemed justified.

“The F.B.I. takes very seriously any shooting incidents involving our agents, and as such we have an effective, time-tested process for addressing them internally,” a bureau spokesman told The Times.

Many questions still surround the death of Ibragim Todashev, who was shot while being questioned about the Boston bombing brothers.

Samuel Walker, a criminal justice professor at the University of Nebraska, said the FBI’s conclusions on agent-related shootings are “suspiciously low.”

A Chechen man killed by an FBI agent during an interview about his relationship with one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects was unarmed, the Washington Post reports.

What remains unclear is what instigated the fatal shooting by a federal agent.

“The FBI takes very seriously any shooting incidents involving our agents and as such we have an effective, time-tested process for addressing them internally,” FBI spokesman Paul Bresson said in a statement Wednesday. “The review process is thorough and objective and conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances.”

At the time of the shooting, Ibragim Todashev was being interviewed in his apartment on the morning of May 22 about a triple murder.

A Chechen immigrant fatally shot by an FBI agent in Florida had connections to one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, the Associated Press reports.

Ibragim Todashev has a lot in common with bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed during a shootout with police. He has Chechen roots, experience with mixed martial arts and lived in Massachusetts.

The AP wrote that Todashev may have been involved with a triple murder in which Tsaraev is emerging as a suspect.

What remains unclear is why Todashev was shot.
