Two Border Patrol agents accused of stealing $100,000 worth of gun parts and equipment from the agency had their day in court – and the outcome was different for each one.

One of the agents, Jesus Manuel Franco, was convicted one one count of theft of government property and two counts of unlawful possession and transfer of a machine gun, the Arizona Daily Star reports.

The other agent, Edgardo Jose Munoz Cruz, was acquitted.

Both were accused of conspiring to steal gun barrels, scopes, magazines and other equipment.

Franco faces up to 10 years in prison.

The gunman who opened fire at a country music concert in Las Vegas planned to escape after the mass shooting, and he may have had help planning the attack, authorities said.

But Stephen Paddock left behind a note and turned the gun on himself as police closed in on him in his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay

after the massacre that killed 58 people.

“He was doing everything possible to see how he could escape at this point,” Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said, CNN reports.

The note left inside the hotel room was not a suicide note, police said, but did not elaborate.

More than 100 investigators, including FBI agents, are trying to determine whether Lombardo had help. He meticulously planned the attack and bought 33 firearms, mostly rifles, over the past 13 months.

“Do you think this was all accomplished on his own? You’ve got to make the assumption he had to have some help at some point,” Lombardo said.

When Secret Service officials approached a man for allegedly urinating in public near the White House on Sunday morning, they found a cache of guns, knives and other weapons in the suspect’s car.

CNN reports that the suspect said he was planning to go to the white House to speak with National  Security Agency Director Admiral Mike Rogers and Defense Secretary James Mattis “for advice on missing paychecks and how to get the chip out of my head,” according to the incident report obtained by CNN

A search of the vehicle uncovered nine guns, three knives, ammunition, brass knuckles and suppressors.

The suspect was charged with multiple weapons violations after he was taken to a D.C. facility for “mental observation.”

In less than 48 hours, Milanowski said 109 guns were stolen.

“We will do everything we can to have these individuals prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” said Milanowski.

A two-year ATF sting intended to crack down on illegal guns and drugs in the San Francisco area lead to the arrests of more than 75 people.

ATF authorities said it was the largest bust of its kind in the agency’s history, Mercury News reports

Earlier this week, more than 1,000 law enforcement officers swarmed areas of San Francisco and San Mateo counties as part of Operation Cold Day. Authorities retrieved 90 guns, 48 stolen vehicles and more than six pounds of dugs, including cocaine and heroin.

“One firearm in the hands of a gang member or a prohibited person is one firearm too many. It only takes one round from one gun to end a life,” ATF Special Agent in Charge Jill Snyder said during a news conference at the San Francisco Police Department. “We targeted those who created a pipeline to stream firearms into the community and then placed them into the hands of violent criminals.”

The investigation is still ongoing.

The FBI’s search for four missing Pennsylvania men helped lead to the arrest of a 20-year-old man connected to the case.

Cosmo DiNardo, of Bensalem, Pa., was arrested Monday and lodged in jail on $1 million bond on a gun charge, according to the Associated Press.

The FBI, who has not identified DiNardo as a suspect in the men’s disappearance, found the 20-year-old in possession of a shotgun and ammunition, despite a history of mental illness and an involuntary commitment.

The FBI searched for signs of the missing men using heavy equipment at a large property owned by DiNardo’s family.

“The leads are incredibly hot, they’re very fruitful. We’re making great progress, but there’s so much more work to do,” Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said. “We’re not going to rest until we get through every inch of that property.”

The FBI was searching the property because of tips.

One of the men went missing Wednesday, and three others vanished Friday.

Investigators suspect foul play.

“I surely believe there is,” Weintraub said.

An FBI agent who left his car running at a gas station on Chicago’s west side was carjacked early Monday morning.

The stolen white Chevy Equinox contained several guns, including an M4, Glock 27 and a Glock 22, according to ABS Eyewitness News.

Authorities are hoping surveillance cameras at the Shell Gas Station near Morgan Street and Jackson Boulevard captured the carjacking, which happened around 1 a.m.

It’s unclear why the agent left the car running, especially since there were multiple guns inside.

Police are investigating and declined to provide more details early Monday morning.

ATF: Medical Marijuana Cardholders Barred from Buying Guns

The continuing battle between states and the federal government over medical marijuana just got a lot more intense.

The ATF said Wednesday that medical marijuana cardholders are not allowed to buy guns from licensed dealers, 40/29 News reports.

Although medicinal cannabis has been approved in 29 states, marijuana is still illegal on the federal level. Under President Trump’s administration, the feds are increasing the crackdown on medical marijuana.

People who buy gun from a licensed dealer are required to disclose whether they’re an unlawful marijuana or drug user. Because marijuana is illegal federally, that means anyone who uses it is an unlawful user, said ATF spokesman Kevin Moran.
