The so-called “adopted son” of John Gotti, the late Gambino crime boss, is taking credit for the FBI raiding the Florida home of a former deputy sheriff on Monday.

Lewis Kasman, 59, told The Daily News that he prompted the raid by secretly recording the ex-deputy, Mark Dougan, for the FBI.

“I did it because it was the right thing to do,” Kasman said, claiming he feared Dougan was planning to harm the current sheriff and deputy sheriff of Palm Beach.

But Dougan said “Kasman doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

“He’s a fucking whack job,” Dougan told The Daily News. “I knew he was recording me. That was seven months ago. He kept setting his phone on the table with the microphone toward me. He’s a moron.”

Doug said the law enforcement was pursuing him because someone had hacked the personal information of sheriff’s officials and dumped it on a website that he previously owned.

FBI Posts Gotti Surveillance Film on 20 Year Anniverary of His Conviction

Twenty years ago to this month, the feds finally nailed Godfather John Gotti, convicting him after several failed attempts.

As the FBI points out on its website, he was known as the “Dapper Don” for his nice threads and the “Teflon Don” for his ability to avoid convictions.

To commemorate the victory, the FBI has posted surveillance video of Gotti in the 1980s and 1990s.

Gotti died prison in 2002.

In the end, his son John (Junior) Gotti proved to be the Teflon Don. The feds failed to convict him on multiple charges after four times and finally gave up.

Using “mob turncoats” to testify in court doesn’t always work. It comes down to credibility.

Apparently, jurors weren’t buying what “mob turncoat” John Alite was selling as a star prosecution witness in the the fourth and final unsuccessful trial in 2009 against his ex-best friend, John (Junior) Gotti, son of the late Godfather John Gotti.

Alite, a convicted murderer and associate of the Gambino Crime family,  testified that the younger Gotti, who was a childhood friend,  approved multiple murders.  Apparently, his word was no good, at least in the eyes of some jurors. The case ended with a deadlock jury in December 2009, and the government decided after failing four times, not to go for a fifth trial.

Jerry Capeci, an expert on the mob who runs the website Gang Land News, reports that “Brooklyn federal prosecutors have figured out how to keep the flawed mob turncoat John Alite off the stand in a companion case to the failed prosecution of John (Junior) Gotti.”

Gang Land News reports that the feds have “rounded up a slew of better witnesses” in a multiple murder case against John Burke, a Queens gangster. One of the witnesses is expected to be Peter (Bud) Zuccaro, who was a defense witness for Gotti Junior, Gang Land News reported.

Gang Land News reported that “Burke is awaiting trial for three gangland-style slayings from 1982 to 1996, including one that Gotti allegedly ordered.”

Gambino Crime Family Has a New Boss

The Gambino Crime Family has a new boss — Domenico (Italian Dom) Cefalu, marking a clear end to the Gotti era, Gang Land News reported.

Mob expert Jerry Capeci of Gang Land News writes:

“In a surprise move, the Gambinos have gone back to the old-fashioned way of running a crime family. They have selected a boss who is not in prison. He is a convicted drug trafficker with a well-earned reputation as a stand-up wiseguy who would never flip.”

Gang Land New reports that Cefalu, 64, of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, came into the family during the Gotti reign. Many of the key Gotti folks are behind bars.

Cefalu’s rap sheet includes six years in prison for a 1982 heroin smuggling conviction, and 20 months in the joint for a 2008 extortion rap. He is a salesman for a local bakery.
