Ex-DEA Employee Gets Probation for Embezzling Drug Enforcement Funds

Embezzling $1,800 from the DEA will cost a former employee one year of probation and 50 hours of community service, the Tribune-Review reports.

U.S. District Judge Donetta Ambrose delivered the sentenced Monday to Holly Cook, 43, of Monongahela, Pa.

Cook pleaded guilty in May to taking $1,800 from a locked cash box of drug enforcement funds, the Tribune-Review reported.

“I will never forgive myself for allowing a momentary lapse in judgment to define the rest of my life,” she said in court.

 

Feds: Did Filmmaker of Anti-Islam Movie Violate Probation?

The suspected filmmaker of an anti-Muslim movie that spurred protests across the Middle East could return to prison if he violated his probation, the Associated Press reports.

Authorities interviewed Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, for about a half hour Saturday at a Los Angeles sheriff’s station in his hometown of Cerritos, Calif.

After deputies dropped him off, Nakoula took off and said he’s not returning home. according to the AP .

Authorities are investigating whether Nakoula violated terms of his probation, which stem from financial crimes, the AP reported.
