Black Lives Matter activists said FBI agents have been urging them not to protest at this week’s Republican convention in Cleveland.

The Washington Post repots that Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson asked President Obama to instruct the FBI to stop contacting activists ahead of the convention.

The Post reports:

Activists in Cleveland, San Francisco, New York, Minneapolis, and St. Louis have all told The Washington Post that they have been visited by FBI agents in recent days, which the activists consider an intimidation tactic.

One activist with Campaign Zero, the group co-founded by Mckesson, tweeted about a recent encounter he had with an FBI agent.

An activist in New York said an agent visited his home earlier this week.

“I don’t want to talk about particular groups here but there is a concern anytime there’s an event like this that people from across a spectrum of radical groups will be attracted to it,” FBI Director James Comey said during a House Homeland Security Committee hearing.

The nation’s top law enforcement officials are warning of potential violence at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland next week.

ABC News reports that officials were worried about radical activists.

“I am concerned about the prospect of demonstrations getting out of hand, and concerned about the possibility of violence,” Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson told the House Homeland Security Committee Thursday. “We have to be concerned about things getting out of hand, definitely.”

FBI Director James Comey agreed.

“It’s a threat we’re watching very, very carefully,” adding that the concern is over “a spectrum of radical groups.”

Earlier this week, local law enforcement and the Secret Service said they are prepared for thousands of protesters.

“We are prepared, we are ready to welcome the world to Cleveland,” said Agent Ronald Rowe with the U.S. Secret Service.

Cleveland.com reports that activists felt the “door-knock” visits were intimidating.

An FBI spokesman for the local branch called the door knocking “community outreach” to ensure next month’s GOP convention is a “safe and secure” event.

About a dozen activists have reported being visited by teams of local and federal law enforcement officials this week.

The Secret Service plans to stop any plans to allow guns at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, 12News reports.

The Secret Service made its position clear after a petition with 45,000 signatures demanded that Quicken Loans Arena, end its ban on possessing firearms.

“This is a direct affront to the Second Amendment and puts all attendees at risk,” the petition states.

The Secret Service responded that only law enforcement will be permitted to posses guns inside the event.

“Individuals determined to be carrying firearms will not be allowed past a predetermined outer perimeter checkpoint, regardless of whether they possess a ticket to the event,” Secret Service spokesman Robert Hoback told the Hill.

GOP frontrunner said he plan to read the petition before making a position on the ban.

“I want to see what it says. I want to read the fine print,” said Trump, who reiterated that he is “a very, very strong person for Second Amendment.”

The war on dissent, rather than terrorism, continued full steam with FBI SWAT teams breaking down doors at 7 am Friday (Sept 24) morning and raiding the homes of several anti-war leaders and activists in Minneapolis, Chicago and possibly a couple other Midwest cities.

Members of the FBI’s “Joint Terrorism Task Force” spent a few hours at each Minneapolis residence, seizing personal photographs and papers, computers and cell phones as well as serving Federal Grand Jury subpoenas on the various activists.

Obviously the scathing review of post 9-11 FBI “terrorism investigations” targeting various peace and social justice groups completed by the Department of Justice Inspector General (IG) and just issued four days ago gave no pause to the FBI to reflect before continuing to do more of the same.
