Two FBI agents were shot while helping police execute a search warrant near Ferguson early Wednesday, Reuters reports.

The FBI said the shooting was unrelated to the unrest in Ferguson, where protesters have been gathering for months after a white police officer shot an unarmed black teen.

“The incident is not directly related to the Ferguson protests,” FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Wu said.

One agent was shot in the leg and the other was shot in the shoulder.

The injuries are not life-threatening, the bureau said.

FBI agents spent hours testing materials inside the San Francisco home of Ryan Chamberlain this week after he was charged with possessing explosives.

ABC News reports that FBI technicians used sophisticated lab equipment to test for explosive substances in the home of the well-known political and media consultant.

The FBI received a second search warrant for the house.

“The search warrant maybe focuses more on some other items that would be of interest to us, again we are still going to collect that evidence because it’s an ongoing investigation,” FBI spokesperson Peter Lee said.

Chamberlain’s arrest follows a tip that indicated he was making a bomb in his apartment.

The Justice Department has pledged to stop secretly subpoenaing news organizations – for the most part.

Fox News reports that the Justice Department is changing its policy to notify news agencies of its desire to obtain records in leak investigations.

The revision will allow news organizations to challenge search warrants or subpoenas in federal court, Fox News wrote.

The change comes after the Justice Department subpoenaed telephone records of reporters and editors at the Associated Press.

The Justice Department, however, said exemptions may apply in some cases.
