An undocumented immigrant who hacked two men to death with a machete in Honduras was arrested in North Carolina on Tuesday.

ICE deportation officers arrested Francisco Escobar-Orellana, a Honduran national, near his Hope Mills, N.C., home.

An arrest warrant for Escobar was issued in May 2995 following the machete attacks at a liquor store in 1993.

At some point, Escobar illegally entered the United States.

“ICE is focused on identifying, arresting and removing public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens and gang members, as well as individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws,” said ERO Atlanta Field Office Director Sean Gallagher in a statement. “ICE Fugitive Operations Teams conduct targeted enforcement operations toward these identified threats to public safety. North Carolina residents are safer today thanks to the professionalism and hard work of these dedicated officers.”

ICE plans to remove Escobar from the U.S. so he can face criminal charges in Honduras.

An undocumented immigrant assaulted and nearly stabbed a Border Patrol agent near Tucson on Tuesday night.

The attack happened as the Border and Air and Marine Operations were responding to a report of roughly 10 migrants walking in the desert, the Arizona Republic reports.

Using a helicopter as a guide, agents located the group.

When an agent tried to stop a fleeing migrant, he was nearly stabbed when the man pulled out a knife. The agent’s handheld radio was stabbed, potentially saving him.

The co-pilot of a helicopter helped subdue and arrest the man.

The agent wasn’t seriously injured.

Border Patrol officials are accused of ordering sheriff’s deputies in Ohio to release an undocumented immigrant who then murdered a 60-year-old woman, tried to kill another woman and attempted to rape a teenage girl, the Daily Caller reports.

Juan Razo, 35, has been charged in the murder Monday of Margaret Kastelnick.

His crime spree allegedly began Monday morning with the attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl, followed by shooting another woman. The spree ended in the murder of Kastelnick at her home.

Razo, who has been in the U.S. for five years, was arrested following a shootout with police.

“Emmanuel Razo was secured while we spoke with Officer Rivera of U.S. Border Patrol, who later decided not to respond to take Emmanuel Razo into custody,” a Lake County sheriff’s deputy wrote in his report, according to WKYC. “[Razo] was warned not to return to this property. We cleared.”

A new report suggests reforms at Border Patrol are needed to prevent excessive use of force, NBC Latino reports.

Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General generated the report at the request of Sen. Robert Menendez, D-New Jersey, and 15 members of Congress following media reports of an undocumented immigrant who died in CBP custody.

The report recommends that Border Patrol train agents to use less-lethal tactics for handling suspects. It also recommends working on some of the reforms with ICE.
