A motorist tooling around an upscale Dallas neighborhood Wednesday night got an unexpected greeting from U.S. Secret Service agents when his muscle car accidentally hopped the curb and ended up on the lawn of a certain prominent person.
Ed Donovan, a Secret Service spokesman, said the man was driving sometime around 7:30 p.m. to visit a friend in the Preston Hollow neighborhood in Dallas when he apparently lost control of the car, which jumped onto the lawn of former President George W. Bush. Donovan said it appeared the gas pedal was stuck.
Secret Service agents, who are on the scene 24/7, quickly responded, as did the Dallas police, Donovan said. The man was interviewed and was allowed to go. Donovan said there was no indication the man intended to harm the President and his wife Laura, who were home at the time. There was no damage to the home.
Media reports indicated the car was a Mercury Cougar.
