DETROIT — An officer on an FBI human trafficking task force was shot and wounded Friday night in the parking lot of the Detroit Marriott Southfield Hotel on Northwestern Highway in Southfield, a suburb just outside Detroit. A suspect targeted by the task officer was shot and killed, according to FBI spokesperson Jill Washburn.
The Michigan State Police told WDIV that the task force officer was shot in the vest. The incident happened around 7:45 p.m.
The officer is expected to recover, Washburn said. She declined to say if the person hit was an agent or a police officer on the task force.
The subject, or one of the subjects, was shot and killed.
Washburn said it was unclear if the officer who was shot returned fire of if the suspect was killed by another member of the task force.
