By PHILIP MESSING
New York Post
NEW YORK –– The outraged head of the Port Authority police union today demanded an investigation into how a swamped jet skier was able to breach Kennedy Airport’s troubled $100 million security system.

Paul Nunziato, president of the authority’s PBA, will send a letter to PA big Patrick Foye “demanding a PA inspector’s general investigation into the failed Perimeter Intrusion Detection System, the cost over-runs and the relationship between the Port Authority and Raytheon, the vendor,” said Robert Egbert, a PBA spokesman.

The demand for answers followed an exclusive report in The Post yesterday on how the marooned jet skier easily overcame the supposedly fool-proof security system at JFK.

One of the country’s largest ports is not adequately prepared to fend off terrorists, thieves and other criminals, a former Homeland Security agent said, the New York Post reports.

Terrorists “are looking for a weakness, and you’re standing in one of them right now,” Adam Conti, 46, told The Post. “This place is like a piece of Swiss cheese. There are good cops over [here], but they are outnumbered and have no resources.”

Some of the problems the security expert pointed out at Port Newark were high crime, lack of surveillance and east access  to the plant.

Conti said blowing the whistle on the site cost him his job at the Port Authority, the Post reports.

Hoping to compel Attorney General Eric Holder to release documents related to the botched gun-walking case Operation Fast and Furious, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee plans  Monday to file a civil contempt suit today against the AG, CBS News reports.

The lawsuit comes after the White House and Justice Department said Holder wouldn’t face criminal prosecution for withholding records of a botched case.

President Obama asserted executive privilege in the case, a move that legal experts said would head off prosecution, CBS News reported.

Democrats blame the controversy over the records on election-year politics.
