The FBI is trying to determine whether it can bring charges against a San Diego couple accused of dumping the body of a baby in an empty lot in Tijuana.

Law enforcement officials believe the baby was killed and dumped in Mexico.

NBC7 said the FBI is reviewing a federal statute that makes it a crime in America for a U.S. citizen to kill another U.S. citizen on foreign soil.

The couple’s seven-month-old child was found dead on Sept. 2 in a Mexican neighborhood that is roughly 12 miles south of the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

The couple told authorities that baby Elliot fell and died, so they wrapped him up in blankets and discarded him in an empty lot in Tijuana.

Two female senators are calling for the FBI to collect more information on domestic violence and stalking crimes.

“The seriousness and devastating effects of these crimes, as well as the propensity for repeat victimization, expose a dangerous gap in the FBI’s crime data collection programs,” Sens.Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) wrote in a letter sent Monday to FBI Director James Comey and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, The Hill reports.

The senators wrote that the FBI collects data on crimes ranging “from homicide to loitering … but no data are collected on stalking and very limited data are collected on domestic violence.”

The senators said a quarter of women are victims of domestic violence, and one in six women are victims of stalking.

“The FBI is already authorized by law to collect data on new crimes without congressional approval, and it has already done so multiple times,” the senators wrote.

“For example, in January 2016, the FBI began collecting crime data on animal cruelty, with the justification that animal cruelty is an early indicator of violent crime,” they added.

Donald Trump insisted Tuesday that Hillary Clinton’s handling of emails was far more scandalous than Watergate.

Trump also criticized the Justice Department, saying it was tougher on Richard Nixon that Clinton, the Washington Post reports.

“This is far bigger and a far bigger scandal than Watergate ever was, but with Watergate we had Justice, we had a Justice Department that went after the people,” Trump said. “Here’s something that just, nobody’s ever seen anything like this.”

Trump insisted the Justice Department’s refusal to charge Clinton is evidence of a “rigged system.”

Mark Morgan, the Border Patrol’s new chief, said his agents are “the most assaulted law enforcement personnel in the country.”

“I’ve learned that the United States Border Patrol agents are among the most assaulted law enforcement personnel in the country,” Mark Morgan, the new chief of the Border Patrol, told a House Homeland Security subcommittee panel on Tuesday, the Washington Examiner reports. “There have been 7,542 assaults against agents since 2006 and 30 agents have died in the line of duty since 2003.”

Morgan also said agents are distracted from their mission to keep the country safe because of unaccompanied minors crossing the border.

“What we’re being asked to do right now, I think you could phrase it a little bit, is a humanitarian mission,” Morgan said.

Ex-Secret Service Agent Says Conspiracies of Clinton Body Double Are Ridiculous

A former Secret Service agent, who considers himself a “die-hard” conservative, said it’s ludicrous to believe Hillary Clinton has a body double – a conspiracy theory that has gained traction on social media.

“Do you really believe, in an era of HD cameras that … there is a Hillary Clinton body double out there?” Dan Bongino said, Western Journalism reports.

Bongino said the conspiracy theorists are distracting from real issues with Clinton.

“The left loves this stuff. I’m telling you, I’ve seen some of the staffers behind the scenes,” he said. “The far left thinks this is the greatest thing ever — that there are two major Clinton scandals going on right now as we talk, and there are people out there spinning conspiracy theories that Hillary has a body double.”

The body double conspiracy began after Clinton collapsed after a Sept. 11 memorial service. Trump supporters suggested a Clinton lookalike emerged from Chelsea Clinton’s apartment.
