Conviction for al Quaeda Operative Who Intentionally Crashed Car on U.S. Highway and Plotted NYC Subway Bombing

Authorities called it one of the most serious terrorist plots against America since 9/11.

On Tuesday,  28-year-old Adis Medunjanin of Queens paid for that ambitious plot.

Medunjanin was convicted on terror charges on Tuesday in New York fed court after a 4-week trial exposed the depth of his plots with former high school classmates, Najibullah Zazi and Zarein Ahmedzay.

In 2008, the three received training from al Qaeda in Waziristan, states a Justice Department press release, where they were advised to return to New York for a maximum impact suicide-bombing mission. The plotters planned to blow themselves up at rush hour in a Manhattan subway because, as Zazi testified, the transit system is “the heart of everything in New York City.”

However, the trio noticed they were being observed before they could carry out the plot. Zazi remembered telling his co-conspirators “I think law enforcement is on us. We are done.”

After the FBI searched Medunjanin’s apartment in 2010, he attempted to martyr himself by crashing his car on the Whitestone Expressway at high speed. Before doing so he called 9-1-1 and identified himself and shouted an al-Qaeda slogan:

“We love death more than you love your life.”

He faces up to  life imprisonment at his Sept 7 sentencing.

NY Terrorist Suspect Said Something Mel Gibson-like

He may not be Mel Gibson, but terrorist suspect Adis Medunjanin might have done something sort of Mel Gibson-like after he was arrested last year in connection with an alleged al-Qaeda-sanctioned plot to blow up New York’s subway system.

The New York Daily News reports that FBI agent Aaron Spivack testified Monday at a pretrial hearing in Brooklyn federal court that Medunjanin, after his arrest, wanted to know if the agent was Jewish. He also called Judiasm “the wrong religion.”

“He began to talk religious talk . . . about how Judaism was the wrong religion . . . it was like a lecture or a speech,” Spivack said, according to the Daily News.

The suspect’s attorneys wanted the judge to toss the incriminating statements and said their client was denied access to a lawyer, AP reported.

Authorities allege that Medunjanin and co-conspirators Najibullah Zazi and Zarein Ahmedzay plotted to blow up the subway and were, in part, motivated by their hate for Israel, the Daily News reported.

As you might recall, after Mel Giblson was arrested in Malibu, Calif. on July 28, 2006, he said to the arresting officer James Mee, who is Jewish: “F— Jews…the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.”

Sounds like the Medunjanin, the suspected terrorist, might have been a little more polite.

A co-conspirator in the aborted plot to blow up of the New York subway during rush hour pleaded guilty Friday in Brooklyn federal court. He warned America to stop fighting Islam and blamed the Jews, the New York Daily News reported.

At the same time, a prosecutor said in court that the conspirators in the plot had met with two senior Qaeda leaders in Waziristan, Pakistan, who ordered the attack, according to the New York Times.

Terror suspect Zarein Ahmedzay, who pleaded guilty Friday,  told the federal judge, according to the Daily News : “Your honor, I strongly urge the American people to stop supporting the war against Islam. It would be in their interest.”

“I’m thankful for myself that I did not do anything to harm anyone. But I fear someone else might do the same.”

He then went on to say that the “real enemy of this country are the ones destroying the country from within…I believe it’s a special group – Zionist Jews, I believe, who want a permanent shadow government.”

Ahmedzay, Najibullah Zazi and Adis Medunjanin were charged with plotting to carry out the subway bombings. A fourth person was recently arrested in the case in Pakistan, the Daily News reported.

WASHINGTON — The FBI arrested two men in New York on Friday in connection with the ongoing probe into the bomb plot targeting the Big Apple that allegedly involved the Colorado airport driver, the Associated Press reported.

Richard Kolko, an FBI spokesman in New York, told the Associated press that the arrests of Adis Medunjanin and Zarein Ahmedzay were part of “an ongoing investigation” by the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Authorities did not release details behind the arrests and said the men were scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
