Oops: Fed Agents’ Big Goof in Arrest of NY Mobster

By Allan Lengel
ticklethewire.com

This is a goof almost too good to be true.

Mob expert Jerry Capeci of Gang Land News reports that the feds — more specifically, federal agents with the Department of Homeland Security — were a little embarrassed a few weeks ago when they tried arresting Gambino crime family  capo Alphonse Trucchio.

The feds phoned Trucchio and told him to step outside his South Ozone Park, Queens home so they could arrest him on racketeering charges, according to Gang Land News.

Problem was, when Trucchio stepped outside, no one was there, Gang Land reported. Inside, shortly after, the phone rang again.

“If you don’t come outside now, we’re going to break the door down,” warned an agitated agent, Gang Land reported.

“Where are you? I just went outside and there was no one there,” said Trucchio, according to Gang Land.

The agents said they were outside his Howard Beach home.

“I don’t live there anymore,” replied the gangster, according to Gang Land. “I’ve been living here for 10 years…I’m on house arrest on an electronic monitor – and you don’t know where I am?!”

Gang Land reported that he then gave the agents the right address.

FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List Really Just Eight Most Wanted for Now

Whitey Bulger

The FBI’s legendary Ten Most Wanted list is really only the Eight Most Wanted list these days.

Two of the the most well-known figures on the list — Osama bin Laden and Boston mobster James “Whitey” Bulger — are no longer wanted. Bin Laden was killed by the U.S. military in Pakistan in May and Bulger was captured by the FBI in California in June. No one has replaced them.

Their pictures remain on the list on the FBI webpage. But the word “Captured” has been added to Bulger’s photo and “Deceased” has been added to bin Laden’s.

The FBI told ticklethewire.com on  Friday that there’s “no time frame” for when the two vacancies will be filled. The process of filling the spots is a detailed one that includes FBI field offices around the country submitting recommendations that are then reviewed at headquarters and ultimately approved by FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III.

So in the meantime, it remains the FBI’s Eight Most Wanted list.

The list currently includes less well-known names like Jason Derek Brown, Robert William Fisher and Eduardo Ravelo.

Eduardo Ravelo appears to be one of the more notable fugitives.

The FBI said he is a Captain (Capo) within the Barrio Azteca organization and issues orders to the Barrio Azteca members residing in Juarez, Mexico. He also has ties to El Paso, Tex.

Authorities alleged that Ravelo and the Barrio Azteca members act as “hitmen” for the Vicente Carrillo Fuentes Drug Trafficking Organization and are responsible for numerous murders. The FBI said he may have had plastic surgery and altered his fingerprints.

Fisher is wanted on charges of killing his wife and two young children and then blowing up the house in which they all lived in Scottsdale, Az. in April of 2001.

Brown is wanted for murder and armed robbery in Phoenix, Arizona.  Authorities say Brown allegedly shot and killed an armored car guard outside a movie theater in November of 2004 and then fled with the money.

Ooops! FBI May Have Blown Mob Informant’s Cover as Snitch

By Allan Lengel

The FBI may have blown the cover of a mob informant by being a little careless, the Gang Land News website reported.

Jerry Capici of Gang Land News, a former mob writer for the New York Daily News, reports that the cover of mob associate Howard Santos may have been blown about a year ago when Gambino capo Alphonse Trucchio was driving along Queens Boulevard in New York  and spotted Santos’s car parked near the FBI office. It was empty.

Gang Land News reports that Trucchio drove around and spotted Santos, 44, sitting in another car with an FBI agent he recognized. The site reported that  Santos’s relationship with the FBI became a well-known secret.

Santo is scheduled to testify in an upcoming trial.

Feds Say NY Jeweler Murdered For Disprespecting Genovese Family Mobster

Respect comes in different forms. In the mob world, it often comes in the form of $$$.

Brooklyn federal prosecutors on Wednesday said mobbed up Staten Island jeweler Louis Antonelli was murdered because he disrespected Genovese capo Anthony Antico, 74, by failing to pay him cash kickbacks for selling gems at Antico’s social club, the N.Y. Daily News reported.

The paper reported that Antonelli, 43, was fatally shot April 29, 2008, in West Brighton in Staten Island.

Defense lawyer Gerald McMahon called one of the government’s witnesses “a chain saw murderer” and another “a mass murderer.”

In other mob news, the Daily News reports that “ruthless, toothless former Colombo crime boss Thomas (Tommy Shots) Gioeli” has been accused in federal court of killing off-duty NYPD cop Ralphy Dols in Brooklyn in 1997.
