When Mexican security forces converged on a hideout used by notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman on Friday, he fled through a secret doorway behind a mirror and descended into a tunnel leading to the city’s drains, Reuters reports.

For hours, Guzman was underground as Marines searched the house where the infamous boss of the Sinaloa drug cartel was living.

As rain began to flow through the city’s drain, Guzman emerged from a manhole cover and stole a car before he was finally captured, ending a months-long manhunt, Reuters wrote.

Mexican officials began extradition proceedings, which means Guzman may be sent to a U.S. prison.

One of the FBI’s most wanted criminals often spent time along the Appalachian Trail, befriended hikers and traveled with a woman whom he called his wife, the Dispatch reports.

A hiker who met a bedraggled, friendly man along the trail last year was watching “American Greed” several months ago when the program featured his hiking companion, fugitive James T. Hammes, who faces 75 charges, including 37 counts of money laundering.

“Nicest guy ever,” the hiker told The Dispatch on Tuesday.

The Mississippi man called authorities, who managed to track down Hammes.

WATERTOWN, Mass. — Police arrested the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing here Friday night after a day-long manhunt led them to the wounded man hiding in a back yard.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was found after a resident in Watertown saw blood on a boat parked behind his home. The man looked under a plastic cover and saw a man inside the boat, covered in blood.

Officers responded, and they exchanged gunfire with the suspect and threw “flash-bang” grenades into the boat in an attempt to flush him out. The suspect was later seized by a SWAT team after he did not respond to negotiators. Police said Tsarnaev was in serious condition at a hospital.
