When Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent John DeJohn was driving home from a fishing trip in Corpus Christi, Texas, he spotted an SUV that had crashed in a field.

DeJohn, of HSI Houston, sprinted to the vehicle and discovered it was on fire.

The special agent found a young girl screaming for help, pinned underneath the SUV. Her mouth was bleeding and she appeared to have a broken leg.

DeJohn and others who stopped lifted the vehicle and rescued the child.

As the fire was spreading, a passerby cut the seatbelt of the unconscious driver, and the group pushed the car back on its wheels to rescue the bleeding woman.

“We commend Special Agent DeJohn for the heroic action taken to save others on a moment’s notice,” Mark Dawson, Special Agent in Charge of HSI Houston, said in a press release from ICE. “This is a testament to HSI special agents everywhere who are willing put their lives in jeopardy every day to help others.”

DeJohn said, “You don’t ever want to be a hero, because that means someone’s life is in peril.”

Border Patrol agents are being credited with saving the life of a driver involved in a rollover accident in south Texas.

Breitbart reports that agents working out of the Falfurrias Border Patrol state in Brooks County were called to the scene of a rollover accident.

Agents arrived to find a driver near a burning, badly damaged car. The driver had serious injuries, including to his head and neck.

Before medics arrived, agents provided emergency assistance to the injured man.

“The Border Patrol is a valuable resource to our community,” Brooks County Sheriff-elect Benny Martinez told Breitbart Texas in an interview on Tuesday. “We are a very poor County financially. Their extra manpower and their saturation throughout the county can mean the difference between life and death to people in some of the remote areas of the county. Because of the number of agents working in our county and their distribution throughout the county, Border Patrol agents are often the first to respond in an event like this. Their training, expertise, equipment, and manpower are an invaluable asset to our community.”

Freeh’s leg was mangled, and if not for the quick attention of first responders, the former director would have died.

“Louis would have died within a minute or so. They stopped the bleeding,” Leahy said.

“I told him he better believe in guardian angels,” Leahy added.

A funeral is scheduled today for a Border Patrol agent who was killed in a two-car crash whir on duty near Carrizo Springs, Texas, on Friday, KSAT reports.

Tyler Robledo, a three-year veteran of Border Patrol, was just 34 when he was involved in a head-on collision while on patrol. The other driver also was killed.

Coleman told the Free Press that Freeh was  “was doing about 60 to 65 miles per hour and was on the left side of the road.” The speed limit was 50 mph.

Freeh’s car swerved off the road and into a tree. He was seriously injured.
