Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents were involved in a fatal shooting after two high-speed chases, several exchanges of gunfire and the hijacking of a commercial truck in Arizona.

The shooting suspect was killed after firing his weapon numerous times at law enforcement officials.

The violence began at 12:56 a.m., when a state trooper pulled over a Ford Mustang for a traffic violation, KSWT reports. The front-seat passenger shot at a trooper and then fled with the Mustang along I-10.

After a 6-mile chase, the Mustang stopped before the suspect fired at Border Patrol agents, fled on foot and hijacked a commercial truck.

The suspect drove the truck along I-10 before exiting, exchanging fire with law enforcement and heading toward Main Street, where the vehicle stopped.

The suspect and law enforcement exchanged fire. The suspect was struck by a bulett and later died.

Border Patrol agents were chasing an SUV driven by a suspected human smuggler when the Chevrolet Trailblazer crashed Sunday in Lake Moreno, Calif., injuring all nine people inside the vehicle.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that agents attempted to pull over the SUV on state Route 94 in the Campo area shortly before noon.

The driver, who sped away, crashed about 15 minutes later into a boulder near the entrance to Lake Morena County Park.

One person was in critical condition, while six sustained moderate injuries and two suffered minor injuries.

Agents believe the driver, who is a U.S. citizen, was smuggling the passengers into the U.S. They were all adult Mexican nationals.

“This incident is a sad example of how human smugglers show utter disregard for human life in order to profit from criminal activity,” Mark Endicott, a supervisory Border Patrol agent for the San Diego sector, said in a statement.

A newly released video shows a car exploding moments after a Border Patrol agent shoots a Taser at the driver in California, NBC San Diego reports.

The driver, Alex Martin, died after the car erupted in flames.

His family claims in a federal lawsuit that the Taser caused the explosion.

His attorney said Martin was lost and traveling on the wrong side of a highway when Border Patrol agents in unmarked cars tried to stop him.

“These agents approached in unmarked cars, in plain clothes and never identified themselves by the display of badges or even the simple statement ‘Border Patrol,’” the attorney said.

Gabriel Pacheco, a lead Border Patrol union representative, said the agents followed procedures and would not have taken such drastic measures if the driver just stopped.
