A Secret Service technician whose job was to determine whether suspicious currency was counterfeit pocketed some of the cash that was authentic.

Shaun Qureshi, a 34-year-old Maryland resident who began working in the Secret Service’s Washington field office in 2009 as a”counterfeit technician,” pleaded guilty Friday to one felony count of illegal conversion of property, the Washington Post reports

Authorities said Qureshi sole between $20 and $200 nearly every day for 22 months, accumulating at least $8,000 between January 2013 to October 2014.

Qureshi eventually got caught after inadvertently pilfering counterfeit $100s and trying to deposit the fake money into his account.

Qureshi faces sentencing in October.

The longtime San Diego gang is known for its ruthless violence, from execution-style murders to the shooting of a pregnant woman.

Now U-T San Diego reports that federal authorities nabbed most of the 55 suspected members of the West Coast Crips in pre-dawn raids Thursday, changing them with crimes spanning from murder and armed robberies to prostitution drug dealing.

The suspected mastermind, Randy Alton Graves, was among those arrested.

The crackdown came on the heels of phone surveillance and undercover drug buys, authorities said.

The startling wiretaps reveal that the gangsters “think nothing about murdering rivals in San Diego and they think nothing of executing their own, when their own are even suspected of being disloyal,” U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy said at a news conference.

Seized in the raids were 16 guns, more than 4 pounds of meth, 4,400 pounds of pot and $300,000 in counterfeit money.

Preissig retired in 2012 as a special agent.  Ticklethewire.com incorrectly had his title as special agent in charge.

“Whenever a law enforcement officer engages in illegal activity, it erodes the public trust. Such actions by few can tarnish the badges of the many who serve to protect America each day. Corruption remains a top priority of the DHS OIG and we remain committed to holding those who violate the public’s trust accountable for their illegal actions,” said David Nieland, Special Agent in Charge of the Miami Field Office, Department of Homeland Security, Office of Inspector General.
