Attorneys for notorious mobster James “Whitey” Bulger plan to appeal his murder and racketeering conviction less than a week after he was sentenced to two life terms in prison, Reuters reports.

The brief filing in U.S. District Court in Boston does not list specific objections.

But Reuters suggests Bulger’s attorneys may be arguing they were wrongly denied the right to argue that Bulger was granted immunity by the FBI.

Kareem Ibrahim, an Imam, will have to communicate to the person up above, behind bars, for the rest of his life.

Brooklyn U.S. District Judge Dora L. Irizarry on Friday sentenced Ibrahim to life in prison for conspiring to commit a terrorist attack at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens by being part of a plot to  explode fuel tanks and the fuel pipeline under the airport.

Authorities said Friday that Ibrahim and his coconspirators believed the attack would cause extensive damage to the airport and to the New York economy, as well as the loss of numerous lives.

“This case shows the government at its best in terms of protecting the security of this country,” Judge Irizarry said.

Ibrahim was convicted of multiple terrorism offenses in May 2011 after a four-week trial.

The evidence at trial established that Ibrahim, an Imam and leader of the Shiite Muslim community in Trinidad & Tobago, provided religious instruction and operational support to a group plotting to commit a terrorist attack at JFK Airport.

The plot originated with Russell Defreitas, a naturalized United States citizen from Guyana, who drew on his prior experience working at JFK Airport as a cargo handler to plan the attack on its fuel tanks and fuel pipeline, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a press release.

During cross-examination at trial, Ibrahim admitted that he advised the plotters to present a plot to revolutionary leaders in Iran and to use operatives ready to engage in suicide attacks at the airport.

Authorities recorded a conversation that had Ibrahim telling Defreitas that the attackers must be ready to “fight it out, kill who you could kill and go back to Allah.”

Russell Defreitas and Abdul Kadir were convicted of terrorism charges and sentenced to life in prison.

The FBI apparently wasn’t the only one recording mob conversations.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that FBI agents this week raided the suburban home of imprisoned legendary Chicago mob hitman Frank Calabrese Sr. and found 10 to 15 secret recordings he had made between himself and other gangsters.

The paper reported that agents unearthed the tapes from a secret compartment behind a family portrait in the Calabrese family basement in Oak Brook, an upscale Chicago suburb. Calabrese, who is serving a life sentence for mob activities, has been in prison since the late 1990s on various offenses.

The paper reported that agents also found more than $1 million in cash and jewelry “including stacks of $1,000 bills not printed since the 1940s, and seven loaded handguns that were free of prints and wrapped in towels or clothes, according to court documents released Wednesday.”

The paper reported that one tape appears to be of Ronald Jarrett, a burglar and mob killer and Calabrese Sr.’s closest friend. Jarrett was shot to death in 1999 in what remains an unsolved murder.

The Sun-Times reported that  Calabrese Sr.’s attorney, Joseph “The Shark” Lopez, downplayed the significance of the tapes.

“For all we know, it’s Frank Sinatra singing,” Lopez said, according to the paper.
