The ISIS-supporting son of a Boston Police captain is accused of threatening to use pressure-cooker bombs and guns to attack an unidentified university, Boston.com reports.

Alexander Ciccolo, 23, was arrested on weapons charges on July 4. He is the son of the Boston Police Capt. Robert Ciccolo, police said.

Adams is accused of getting four firearms from an FBI witness.

“What I am gonna do is prepare fire bombs. I’ll do that today. T[hey] are cheap and effective,” Ciccolo said in a July 2 instant message to the witness, according to the FBI. “You get the rifles. I’ll get the powder.”

The complaint also says that Ciccolo bought a pressure cooker on July 3.

Other weapons were found when authorities searched his home.

Following the arrest, Ciccolo is accused of “forcefully” stabbing a nurse in the head, “causing a bloody gash and breaking the pen in half,” Boston.com wrote.

Federal investigators are trying to determine whether the Boston Marathon bombers received help from a terrorism suspect who had all the materials needed for a pressure-cooker bomb, Reuters reports.

The Boston-area man, Daniel Morley, is accused of trying to blow up an airplane and having bomb-making equipment at his home on June 9, Reuters wrote.

Morley told his mother that his best friend was bragging about knowing one of the two Chechen brothers accused of detonating a pressure-cooker near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Police found a large pressure cooker and a block duffel back inside Morley’s closet. Included were black power, ignitors and pieces of metal to be used as shrapnel, according to Reuters.

A Saudi Arabian man was arrested at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Monday after authorities say he changed his story about why he carried a pressure cooker onto a plane, Reuters reports.

Hussain al-Khawahir, 33, first said he was taking the pressure cooker to a nephew.

“The Defendant then changed his story and admitted his nephew had purchased a pressure cooker in America before but it ‘was cheap’ and broke after the first use,” the complaint said.

A pressure cooker packed with explosive powder and shrapnel was used in the Boston Marathon bombing.

Al-Khawahir also was charged with altering his passport after a page was ripped out of it.

Homeland Security Warned About Potential for Pressure Cooker Attacks

The Department of Homeland Security in 2010 warned about terrorists using pressure cookers in bombings in Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan, Fast Company reports.

Surgeons who worked on the victims found large pellets, small BBs and headless nails that were stuffed in six-liter pressure cookers.

The department sent letters to law enforcement officials nationwide warning about the pressure cookers.

“IEDs represent the most ubiquitous threat to our nation for those intent on conducting physical attacks. Law enforcement and the private sector need tools to provide the capability to prevent such incidents,” Robert Liscouski of Implant Sciences told Fast Company.
