An off-duty Border Patrol agent has died after he was stabbed in the face early Saturday morning in front of his girlfriend in El Paso, Texas.

Issac Morales, 30, was pronounced dead Wednesday.

Police said Morales was walking to his car in the parking lot of Union Drafthouse Bar shortly before 2 a.m. when 39-year-old Hisais Justo Lopez allegedly stabbed him. Police said the stabbing occurred after Morales identified himself as a Border Patrol agent.

The FBI is investigating the fatal stabbing of a black college student in Maryland after it was discovered the white suspect belonged to a racist Facebook group called “Alt-Reich.”

ABC News reports that 22-year-old Sean Urbanski, a student at University of Maryland, has been charged in the stabbing death of 23-year-old Richard Collins III, who was a U.S. Army officer.

Calling the attack random and “totally unprovoked,” the university police requested the FBI’s assistance.

“New information obtained today from witnesses and other sources has led law enforcement officials to consider a hate-bias motive in this case,” University of Maryland President Wallace Loh said in a statement Sunday. “To ensure a comprehensive investigation, UMPD today asked the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to provide technical and forensic expertise, which it agreed to do.“

Collins, who was set to graduate from Bowie State University on Tuesday, was visiting UMD campus when he was stabbed by Urbanski, an apparent stranger.

Dahir Ahmed Adan, who stabbed 20 people at a Minnesota mall, was different than most terrorists.

Just months before the Sept. 17 attacks, the 20-year-old academic standout became interested in Islam and began to distance himself from friends, the FBI said Thursday.

“We were told (he) had not previously shown an interest in religion,” Minneapolis FBI Special Agent in Charge Rick Thornton said at a news conference, the Associated Press reports.

“The totality of Dahir Adan’s behavior and the actions suggest he may have been radicalized either with the influence of others or on his own,” Thornton said.

The shift was so sudden that Adan’s family believed he was doing as good as he used to do,” the attorney for Adan’s family, Abdulwahid Osman, said. “That is not the son they knew.”

Adan used two steak knives in the attack before he was shot and killed.

“We have numerous credible witness accounts of him asking victims during the attack if they were Muslim and at least one instance yelling ‘Allahu akbar’ while stabbing one of his victims and others heard him yelling ‘Islam Islam’ during the attack,” Thornton said.

The FBI has taken over the investigation of the Minnesota mall stabbing attacks over the weekend.

St. Cloud police will assist the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force after Dahir Adan stabbed at least 10 people before being shot by former Albany Police Chief Jason Falconer, the St. Cloud Times reports.

So far, investigators have found no connection between Adan and terrorist groups.

The FBI said Sunday the stabbings were a “potential act of terrorism.”

“One of the things we’re looking at with respect to these attacks is what motivated this young man to do what he did,” FBI spokesman Kyle Loven said. “And that obviously takes some time. It takes an extraordinary amount of legwork. And it’s something that our JTTF is well suited to do.”

Witnesses said Adan, 20, made references to Allah during the attack and even asked some victims if they were Muslims before stabbing them.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for a stabbing attack inside a Minnesota mall that injured nine people.

The stabbings, none of which was fatal, was carried out by a “soldier of the Islamic State,” an ISIS-linked news agency claimed.

The suspect was killed by a part-time police officer in Avon, Minnesota, Newsday reports.

“He clearly prevented additional injuries and potential loss of life,” Kleis said Sunday afternoon. “His heroic actions are exemplary.”

Police said the suspect referenced Allah at least once during the attack.

The ISIS-linked Amaq News Agency said the suspect “carried out the operation in response to calls to target citizens of countries belonging to the crusader coalition.”

What’s unclear is whether the suspect had direct communications with ISIS.

The victims ranged in ages from 15 to 53, and none appeared to sustain life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not identified the attacker.

A New York man accused of attacking an FBI agent with a large kitchen knife has been charged with attempted murder of a federal employee, CNN reports.

Fareed Mumini, 21, allegedly tried to stab the agent several times during a search of a Staten Island home in connection to a terrorism investigation on Wednesday.

Agents swarmed the home and told Mumini to move from a couch in the living room.

But investigators said Mumini “ignored the officer’s commands and instead suddenly lunged at the officers with a large kitchen knife.”

One of the FBI agents was stabbed with the knife several times, but the knife never penetrated the agent’s body armor and the agent suffered only minor injuries.

DETROIT — The FBI has been asked to investigate the assault of two men in suburban Detroit who were stabbed after saying they weren’t Muslim, The Washington Times reports.

Terrence Lavaron Thomas, a Muslim, was charged Tuesday with unlawful intent and possession of a controlled substance following the stabbing at a bus stop in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit.

Southfield Police are asking the FBI to determine whether a hate crime was committed.

“The victims in this case said that the suspect asked them if they were Muslim,” said Southfield Police Chief Eric Hawkins. “They responded that they were not, and then there was some back-and-forth between the victims and the suspect.”

Thomas is accused of stabbing one of them three times in the back. Another man who tried to intervene was stabbed in the hand.

Police said the trio did not know each other.

In an era of school shootings, sophomore Alex Hribal brought knives.

The 16-year-old boy used two 8-inch knives during a vicious attack Wednesday morning at a high school near Pittsburgh, PA, stabbing and slashing 21 fellow students and a security guard, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports.

“When I saw a kid bleeding on the ground is when I realized this was really serious,” student Hope Demont told the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Hribal, who was treated for minor hand wounds, was charged as an adult following the attack. Four of his classmates were in critical condition Wednesday evening.
