A Border Patrol agent was shot during a routine traffic stop Friday night near the U.S.-Mexico Border in Texas.

The agent’s partner returned fire, killing the suspect at the scene, ABC News reports.

The two agents and a deputy with the Kinney County Sheriff’s Department had pulled over a car near Brackettville, Texas, when a passenger opened fire.

The agent was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

CBP did not identify the agents or the suspects by name, but said the gunman was a 25-year-old man. The driver was a 32-year-old woman. Both are U.S. citizens.

“The agents and sheriff’s deputy requested medical assistance and rendered first aid, however the passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene,” CBP said in a statement Saturday. “The injured agent was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound, and later transported by AirFlight to a San Antonio hospital.”

Body Cam Leads to Murder Charge Against Cincinnati Cop Who Shot Unarmed Motorist

Who knows what would have happened if a University of Cincinnati cop wasn’t wearing a body cam.

But he was, and on Wednesday he was indicted on a murder charge for shooting an unarmed black man in the head during a minor traffic stop, the New York Times reports.

Prosecutors called it “a senseless, asinine shooting.”

The video showed that Officer Ray Tensing was lying when he said he was being dragged by Samuel Dubose’s car.

A grand jury indicted the officer Wednesday on a murder charge, which is punishable by up to life in prison.

“This doesn’t happen in the United States, OK?” The Hamilton County prosecuting attorney, Joseph T. Deters, said. “This might happen in Afghanistan. People don’t get shot for a traffic stop.”

He added: “This office has probably reviewed 100 police shootings, and this is the first time we’ve thought, ‘This is without question a murder,’” he said.

Border Patrol agents threatened a woman with a Taser and knife after she questioned why she was stopped 40 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona, she claims in a video distributed by the ACLU.

U.S. citizen Clarisa Christiansen said she refused to exit her car until Border Patrol explained why they wanted to search her vehicle. That’s when she said she was threatened with a Taser

“He opens up my door and he says, ‘Ma’am, do I need to tase you to get you out of your vehicle?'” Chistiansen recounts. “I was like, ‘No, you don’t need to do that. You’re acting ridiculous. Why did you even pull me over?'”

She says an agent then pulled out a knife and threatened to cut her seatbelt.
