Thieves broke into a remote FBI training site in southwest Washington and stole 12,000 rounds of ammunition, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The ammunition — both 9mm and rifle rounds — was taken from a locked storage shed at Camp Bonneville, a former Army base near Vancouver that now serves as a training ground for federal and local law enforcement, The Oregonian reports.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Skidmore said the theft likely occurred sometime between early January and Jan. 15, when deputies last checked the site.

The break-in was first reported Friday by The Columbian.

The FBI, which owned the stolen ammunition, declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.

Camp Bonneville, once an Army rifle and operations center, was shuttered in 1995. Since then, the FBI and sheriff’s office have leased parts of the property for firearms and tactical training.

Skidmore said whoever was responsible also made off with staple guns and paper targets, but left behind anything of greater value.

No arrests have been made, and investigators have yet to identify any suspects.
