The FBI has warned that the New Black Panther Party may be advocating violence in Ferguson, Missouri where an unarmed black teenager was fatally shot by police, KTVI reports.
Among the members of the NBPP who were in town to respond to the shooting was Chawn Kweli, national chief of staff for the group.
On his Facebook page, Kweli posted, “This is the hour all the greats promised. If you die, die like a warrior. I’ll see you on the ground.”
The group is not affiliated with the original Black Panther Party.
Police shot tear gas and smoke bombs at demonstrators and the media early Thursday morning.
