The San Bernardino couple responsible for the massacre that killed 14 people at a holiday party may have been planning an attack for years, New York Magazine reports.
Two federal officials said Tuesday that Farook may have planning an attack with someone else at a specific location in California in 2012.
“They got spooked,” one of the officials said, referring to a series of terror-related arrests in the area.
The attack at the Inland Regional Center may have been planned for three years, the federal sources said, adding that the couple likely took at least a year to prepare.
Clearly they were equipped and they could have done another attack,” San Bernardino police chief Jarrod Burguan said.
