Someone broke into an FBI agent’s car near San Francisco and stole a sub-machine gun, an ammunition magazine and a bulletproof vest.

The San Francisco Chronicle said the theft earlier this month involved a Heckler & Koch MP5 10 mm.

The FBI said the items were stolen between the evening of Jan. 8 and the morning of Jan. 9.

It wasn’t clear where the weapon was in the car or whether it was locked up as required by California law.
