3 New Leaders Appointed to Critical Positions at FBI Headquarters

The FBI’s current headquarters in Washington D.C., named after J. Edgar Hoover.

FBI Director Christopher Wray appointed three new leaders for vital positions at the bureau’s headquarters in Washington D.C.

Michael D. Nordwell will serve as executive assistant director of the Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch. He most recently served as the assistant director of the Criminal Investigative Division at headquarters. 

Nordwell began his career with the bureau in 2002. 

Robert W. “Wes” Wheeler Jr. was named assistant director of the Critical Incident Response Group at headquarters. 

Wheeler most recently served as special agent in charge of the Chicago Field Office. 

He began his career with the FBI in 1999. 

Robert R. Wells was named executive assistant director of the National Security Branch at FBI headquarters. 

Most recently, Wells served as the assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division. 

Wells joined the bureau in 2003.
