Former President Trump has consented to an interview with the FBI regarding the assassination attempt against him earlier this month.

A bureau official told reporters Monday that the interview would be consistent with the FBI’s standard approach to interviewing any victim of a crime, under any circumstances, NBC News reports

Trump confirmed the interview was taking place.

“They’re coming in on Thursday to see me,” he said in an interview on Fox News.

During its investigation, the bureau found that the gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks was “a loner” and a “highly intelligent” man with a growing interest in guns.

The FBI still has not determined his motive.

Trump’s interview comes at a contentious time. He continues to criticize the bureau and claims the FBI has been weaponized to bring him down for political purposes, a baseless claim. He also has called on FBI Director Christopher Wray to resign.
