A new action-packed thriller is set to take off with a fresh twist on holiday cinema.

“Carry-On,” starring Taron Egerton as a TSA agent, is set to hit Netflix on Dec. 13, and it promises a high-stakes adventure. The movie follows Egerton’s character, who is blackmailed by a mysterious man, played by Jason Bateman, to allow a dangerous package to board a flight on Christmas Day.

The film, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for helming Liam Neeson-led thrillers like “Non-Stop” and “The Commuter,” shifts the spotlight to a TSA agent — an everyday figure who becomes embroiled in a deadly plot. Egerton, best known for his action roles in the Kingsman series, steps back into the genre as the lead, while Bateman takes on an unexpected villainous role.

The recently released trailer hints at a tense, adrenaline-fueled ride, contrasting Netflix’s usual holiday fare of romantic comedies with a darker, more intense approach to Christmas storytelling. The teaser sets the tone by highlighting the contrast between the millions of people who travel safely every Christmas and the peril this particular flight faces. Quick glimpses of action — both inside the airport and beyond — reveal car chases and combat, adding to the high-octane energy.
