CIA Official Arrested on Charges of Leaking Classified Info About Israel’s Plans to Attack Iran

By Allan Lengel

The FBI on Tuesday arrested a C.I.A. official charged with disclosing classified documents showing Israel’s plans to retaliate against Iran, the New York Times reports.

Asif W. Rahman was indicted last week in federal court in Virginia with two counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information under the Espionage Act.

He was arrested in Cambodia and was set to appear in federal court in Guam on Thursday.

The Times reports that the leak showed the extent to which the United States spies on even its closest allies.
