The Secret Service placed one of its employees on leave after he posted on Facebook that people mourning conservative activist Charlie Kirk should “delete me,” New York Post reports.
Anthony Pough shared a clip of Kirk calling Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson and others “affirmative action picks,” then wrote, “If you are Mourning [sic] this guy .. delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show.” He added, “Especially when we should be mourning the innocent children killed in Colorado,” referring to a school shooting that left two students seriously injured.
“At the end of the day, you answer to GOD and speak things into existence. You can only circumvent karma, she doesnt [sic] leave,” Pough wrote.
The post remained online for hours and drew complaints from colleagues.
“The US Secret Service will not tolerate any behavior which violates our code of conduct,” a spokesperson said. “We are aware of the employee’s social media post from today, and the individual has been placed on administrative leave as we investigate the matter.”
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot during his American Comeback Tour at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. President Donald Trump said he will posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The agency has been under scrutiny after recent security lapses, including an incident last month when a visitor snuck a Glock pistol into Trump National Golf Club Washington DC.
