An FBI agent who investigated white collar crime in Orange County, Calif., pleaded not guilty Monday to using the FBI computer to obtain information he was not authorized to access, the Associated Press reported.

Peter H. Norell Jr., who resigned after criminal charges were filed on March 9, appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge  in Santa Ana, the AP reported.

A criminal information gave very little information about the allegations, but said the crime took place between Aug. 23, 2005 and Sept. 5, 2005. In most circumstances, the filing of a criminal information indicates that a plea agreement is in the making.

Norrell’s attorney Thomas McConville declined to comment on the case, according to AP.
