The seriousness of the screw up with ATF’s Operation Fast and Furious has apparently not been lost at the White House.

“People who have screwed up will be held accountable, President Obama told reporter Jake Tapper on ABC’s  “Nightline.”

“Our overarching goal consistently has been to say we’ve got a responsibility not only to stop drugs from flowing north, we’ve also got a responsibility to make sure we are not helping to either arm or finance these drug cartels in Mexico,” Obama said.

“It’s very upsetting to me to think that somebody showed such bad judgment that they would allow something like that to happen,” he said. “And we will find out who and what happened in this situation and make sure it gets corrected.”

Operation Fast and Furious encouraged gun dealers in Arizona to sell to middlement, all with the hopes of tracing them to the Mexican cartels.

ATF lost track of some guns, some of which surfaced at crime scenes on both sides of the border. The Mexican government was infuriated when it learned of the undercover operation.
