A Border Patrol agent fired his weapon 10 times at the driver of a car that hit him during a drug raid in Southern California, an autopsy released Thursday shows, the Associated Press reports.
Agent Justin Tackett, who had been suspended four times for misconduct during nearly four years of working as an Imperial County sheriff’s deputy, said he feared for his life after the car drove with him on the hood for 200 yards, the AP wrote.
The autopsy shows Valeria “Munique” Tachiquin Alvarado, 32, sustained 14 gunshot wounds; there were multiple wounds from some shots.
Alvarado’s family has filed a wrongful death suit, saying Tackett’s past misconduct should have disqualified him from the job.
