A Border Patrol agent was shot and the suspect was killed during an unusual scene that federal authorities are investigating, Fox News reports.

The agent, whose name has not yet been disclosed, was treated and released after the gunman shot him in the leg, Fox News wrote.

Authorities said Border Patrol agents were trying to help a man in about 50 miles southeast of Laredo, Tex. whose car was hit by a deer when the man became combative and opened fire.

Turns out, the man hijacked the car, Fox News reported.
