The former NSA chief who oversaw the controversial warrantless surveillance found out what it’s like to be spied on Thursday.
While on an Amtrack train, a passenger overheard Michael Hayden complaining about the current administration to reporters in an off-the-record conversation, USA Today reports.
The passenger also happened to be MoveOn activist Tom Matzzie, who tweeted about Hayden’s conversation. “Former NSA spy boss Michael Hayden on Acela behind me blabbing ‘on background as a former senior admin official’ Sounds defensive,” Matzzie (@tommatzzie) wrote initially.
Hayden is a four-star general who headed the CIA and NSA under President George W. Bush, USA Today wrote.
