An Afghan national on the FBI’s terror watchlist was captured while crossing into the U.S. illegally with a group of migrants last week.
The migrant, whose identity wasn’t disclosed, was arrested near Otay Mesa, Calif., Fox News reports.
A fingerprint scan revealed the Afghan was on the Terrorist Screening Database, prompting the FBI to investigate.
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., whose district includes the area where the arrest occurred, blamed President Biden’s border policies.
“Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking and the deadliest drug crisis in our history,” Issa said. “Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done.”
Since October, CBP reported that at least 69 non-U.S. citizens on the bureau’s terror watchlist were busted trying to enter the U.S.
