Put your paws together for the cutest TSA canine of 2023 – Dina, a three-year-old German shorthaired pointer explosive detection canine at Henry Reid International Airport.
Dina was voted the cutest canine that works for the TSA.
The agency held a social media contest and encouraged the public to vote on the cutest canine.
Dina beat out 92 contenders who were chosen by TSA handlers from airports across the country. The other final four canines were Zita, a three-year-old German shorthaired pointer who works at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport; Dina, a German shorthaired pointer from Harry Reid International Airport; Zeta, a German shepherd from Tampa International Airport; and Joker-Jordan, a Belgian Malinois from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Dina is a passenger screening canine who works with her handler, Nick Goyak, at LAS. They provide explosives detection capabilities.
Dina has worked for the TSA for 15 months.
Dina will be featured on the cover of TSA’s 2024 canine calendar.
“Fun loving and attention seeking, Dina is a pup who wants to be everyone’s best friend,” the TSA said in a news release. “She loves to have her velvety ears rubbed and works hard to be rewarded with her favorite toy – a yellow tennis ball! Dina was one of several TSA canines who worked at Super Bowl LVII in Phoenix earlier this year to keep the venues safe and secure for football fans.”
The TSA has more than 1,000 canines paired with handlers.
