An armed militia leader drew criticism for urging U.S. residents in a video to confront and intimidate illegal immigrants who come across the border.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Chris Davis has since removed the 21-minute YouTube video.
“You see an illegal. You point your gun dead at him, right between his eyes, and you say, ‘Get back across the border or you will be shot,'” Chris Davis says in the video.
Davis, who said he belongs to two militias, said he wanted to clarify his message.
“We’re here to supplement and be where law enforcement is not and help them support the border,” Davis told the Los Angeles Times on Monday. “There’s nothing malicious, there’s no malicious intent — every person is vetted. We’re just here to serve freedom, liberty and national sovereignty.”
