A Border Patrol agent was shot at by a person in Mexico on Thursday during a “use of force” incident in Texas.
The shooting occurred before 1:30 p.m. at the U.S.-Mexico border near the San Elizario area, El Paso Times reports.
According to a law enforcement source, the agent “came under fire from the Mexican side” of the border.
“On April 25, 2024, a Border Patrol agent assigned to the El Paso Sector was involved in a use of force incident near the border,” CBP spokesman Landon Hutchens said in a statement. “The incident is under review by Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.”
There were no reports of injuries.
Details were scant as of early Friday morning.
