Former U.S. presidents would receive lifetime protection from the Secret Service under a bill that the House is expected to vote on Wednesday, the Washington Times reports.
Following the Cold War, about two decades ago, Congress approved legislation to cancel Secret Service protection a decade after presidents leave office.
But the House is poised to restore lifelong Secret Service protection because of new dangers in the world, such as terrorism, the Washington Times reported.
The ex-presidents who are still alive include Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter.
