The DEA appointed Steven T. Bell to serve as special agent in charge of the agency’s Omaha Division.
Before the appointment, Bell was the assistant special agent in charge of the division. He replaces Justin C. King, who retired in December.
The division oversees 11 offices in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
“It’s truly an honor to serve within the DEA Omaha Division,” Bell said in a statement. “This Division is filled with talented individuals all working to execute the agency’s core values with the utmost pride and integrity. I look forward to further developing our law enforcement and community partnerships within the Midwestern region and presenting a united front against the greatest drug threat our nation has ever faced.”
King brings 33 years of law enforcement experience to the job. After starting his career with the Metro Nashville Police Department in 1991, Bell joined Aurora Police Department in Colorado in 1998.
In 2004, Bell graduated from the DEA Academy and was assigned to the Phoenix Division as a special agent. He held several other positions before being promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the newly created Omaha Division in July 2018.
Bell is a native of Ohio and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in criminal justice.
