The Justice Department probe into Hillary Clinton’s family foundation remained open until the final days of the Trump administration, the New York Times reports. It was only in the waning days that the case was officially closed.
Adam Goldman of the Times, citing newly released documents and interviews with former DOJ officials, says the probe remained open far beyond the time the FBI and Justice lawyers knew it was a dead end.
The feds had been examining foreign donors and the family foundation while Clinton served as secretary of state under President Barack Obama.
The Times reports that Trump tried pressuring federal investigators to go after political rivals.
