The FBI arrested a second-term Washington D.C. councilman on Sunday, The Washington Post reports.

Details of the allegations against Trayon White Sr., a Democrat, were unclear, and the FBI declined to comment.

White’s attorney Frederick D. Cooke Jr., who also represented former mayor Marion Barry, said Sunday he had not yet talked with his client.

“I am trying to get in contact with him and speak to my client and decide how we are going to proceed,” Cooke said.

White is expected in federal court Monday.

Since 2016, White has served as a council member for Ward 8 in Southwest Washington, where about a quarter of residents are impoverished.

White has gained a reputation for his activism, but he’s also attracted controversy. In March 2018, he posted a video that falsely claimed Jews control the weather.

Campaign finance issues have also surfaced. Earlier this year, he was fined $40,000 for failing to provide requested documentation for his 2022 mayoral campaign and 2020 reelection campaign.
