FBI Director Kash Patel is expected to also serve as acting director of ATF, ABC News reports.
The appointment will only heighten concerns among critics who fear Patel will show no independence from the White House. Before his hearing on Capitol Hill, Patel wrote about an enemies’ list and the need to go after the media and others.
Pro gun advocates have often advocated for ATF directors who are against added gun control measures.
The ATF director position has often been filled for years with acting directors.
