FBI Director Kash Patel

FBI Director Kash Patel said Sunday the bureau is “pursuing every lead” in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, as investigators look into whether others may have been involved, ABC News reports.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested and charged with Kirk’s murder. But Patel said the FBI is probing “the possibility of accomplices,” citing theories about “the angle of the shot and bullet impact, how the weapon was transported, hand gestures observed as potential ‘signals,’” and visitors to Robinson’s residence before the Sept. 10 shooting.

The remarks echoed testimony Patel gave last week in House and Senate hearings. He also pointed to Discord messages Robinson allegedly posted hours before his arrest, telling friends: “It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.”

Patel said investigators are examining “anyone and everyone involved in that Discord chat,” adding there are “a lot more” than 20 people linked to Robinson.

“There are a number of individuals that are currently being investigated and interrogated, and a number yet to be investigated and interrogated, specific to that chat room,” Patel told senators.

Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder and other offenses, with prosecutors saying they will seek the death penalty. He has not entered a plea and is due back in court Sept. 29.
