Gabriel Carlos Turner had just eaten breakfast with his mother and was headed to work as a janitor at FBI headquarters when he was shot and killed Thursday morning.
Turner, 46, who worked for 15 years as a janitor at the J. Edgar Hoover Building, was on his way to a bus top at about noon when someone opened fire on him, NBC4 reports.
“I don’t know why nobody had to kill him. He didn’t bother nobody,” Ellen Turner said hours after her son was killed just steps from her home.
Witnesses reported hearing at least six gunshots.
Authorities did not say whether they knew of a suspect or motive.
